Stop Trafficking of People is currently in the process of putting together CARE Packs as a joint initiative with PROJECT CARE, initiated by Errol Naidoo from Family Policy Institute. These packs are resource packs with the aim of empowering individuals or groups to start creating awareness about trafficking in their communities. These packs will consist of various kinds of resources from organisations working in the field of trafficking and prostitution that could be used to raise awareness in all the different sectors of a community – schools, churches, local law enforcement, hospitals, clinics, the media and so forth. Resources include everything from flyers, posters and training manuals to informative DVD’s, Public Service Announcements and radio ads. Organisations represented include Justice Acts, Missing Children SA, Straatwerk, Inter-Outreach Ministries, Not for Sale, Salvation Army and of course STOP.

1. Basic CARE pack

This pack is tailor-made for individuals or small teams of people. It includes:

  • A data DVD with various posters, flyers, and training manuals that can be printed and distributed as the need arises
  • An information booklet on organisations working in the field and how one can join in with their initiatives

So you want to know how you can help?? Everyone doesn’t always have the time to volunteer at an NGO between working, eating, sleeping and just basically doing life. But in the tecnologically advanced era that we live in, it doesn’t take a lot to distribute information. In fact, it only takes a few clicks of a button and viola! Please download these fundraising emailers and send them to everyone you know!

You would imagine that the answer to that question is rather obvious, but believe it or not, it seems that there are some who can’t quite grasp the connection.

The following book was brought to life by SWEAT (Sex Worker Education and Advocacy Taskforce).  It is the fruit of a three year study where the relation between the sex industry and human trafficking was researched.

Selling Sex in Cape Town

We are of the opinion that SWEAT’s stance is bias not supported by valid empirical research.  A response to this book was compiled in order to foster conversation around this topic.
